It was not what we needed.
Why it didn’t work for us
We needed to know the dollar. Their FAQs (as of 21 Aug 2026) describe a modest, variable platform fee that includes processing, and say nearly 90% of organizers pass fees on to the buyer. They do not print an amount on that page.
You will find dollar ranges for On The Stage quoted on rival vendors’ comparison pages. That is a competitor talking about a competitor, and we are not going to hand you one as a fact. If you are considering them, ask them for the number in writing before you sign.
We needed to know who holds the money. Their FAQs (as of 21 Aug 2026):
- Stripe Connect: they say they never handle the funds.
- OTS Managed: funds sit in escrow until after the production. ACH or check arrives 5–7 days after the run closes.
A volunteer house pays the rights, the lumber, and the pizza before the last performance. Closing night is when the bills come due. Read who holds the ticket money.
We needed the four months before the door, not a site-and-art package. Their FAQs describe day-of support from 30 minutes before curtain through 30 minutes after. That is a window around the door. The work that broke us happened for months before anyone bought a ticket.
We knew there was a simpler way. A printed $1. Tools that are free until a seat sells. A place for the people who stay late.
What we made instead
Places is the production first, then the door. Tools are free. You only pay at the door: a dollar when a reserved seat sells. General admission is free for small events for a limited time. Comps and free tickets are $0, because a comp is not a sale.
We are not going to answer their support window with a bigger-sounding one of our own. When we can tell you what our coverage is on a Friday night, it will say so here, in hours, the way theirs does.
