About Places
For everyone who stays late so the show can go on.
We are theatre parents and software engineers. We have painted the sets, counted the cash box, and lost an evening to a rehearsal calendar in a spreadsheet. So we started building the tools we wished our own theatre had: everything a volunteer community theatre needs, from auditions to the door.
The week of the show
Three problems we wrote down.

- Who is Places for?
- Volunteer community theatres. Directors, stage managers, costume crews, house committees, and the parent who got handed a laptop and told they are box office.
- What does Places cover?
- The whole production, from auditions and costumes to rehearsals and the door. We are building it in that order because that is the order the work actually happens in. Tickets are how the house fills and how Places gets paid.
- What does it cost?
- Tools are free. Places earns a dollar when a reserved seat sells. General admission is free for small events for a limited time. Comps and free tickets are $0, because a comp is not a sale.
- When does Places launch?
- Join the waitlist. Apply when you can name the next show. We write when there is a slot, not every Thursday.
