Student-season box office for a campus theatre

Software for the people running a student season, not a presenting-house Ticketmaster stack.

A student season needs a box office the department can run. Reserved seats for the mainstage. General admission for the black box. Comps for faculty and guests. A door that does not become a laptop in the lobby.

This is not a presenting-house Ticketmaster stack for touring acts. It is not AudienceView Campus as the default story. We are building Places for the people who put on the student season: the chair, the production manager, the box-office student worker, and the house that has to open on time.

Student season, not the civic hall next door

Campus halls sometimes inherit a seating chart nobody can edit and a box office that cannot see comps versus paid without a spreadsheet. A rented PAC may force a landlord tool for one weekend. That landlord tool is not the department’s season system.

Places keeps the university cluster separate from the volunteer community-theatre beachhead. Same organization → season → production → performance nouns. Different page, different offer surface.

Students run opening night at a campus theatre: checking tickets, calling the show, performing, and focusing a light.

What the house needs

  • An editable seat map the department can keep current.
  • Public ticket sales for the people running the house.
  • Door math that stays with the production, not a side spreadsheet.

Tools are free. Places earns a dollar when a reserved seat sells. General admission is free for small events for a limited time. Comps and free tickets are $0, because a comp is not a sale.

If you are comparing how platforms talk about fees, door night, or who holds the money, start at Compare. Volunteer houses start at Community theatre.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this page for?
Campus performing-arts leads who sell a student season. Christian and liberal-arts student theatres, not a Big Ten presenting house.
How is this different from community theatre?
Same production nouns, different buyer. The campus page stays its own section so a student season is not mixed into the volunteer-house beachhead.
What does it cost?
Tools are free. Places earns a dollar when a reserved seat sells. General admission is free for small events for a limited time. Comps and free tickets are $0.
